Trek A – Ascension of the summit of the Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains from Marrakech

Highlights

• Reach the summit of the Toubkal at 4167m.
• Sprinkle yourself with the miraculous fountain water of the marabout at Sidi Chamarouch.
• Discover the everyday life of the mountain population.
• Initiation to Moroccan cooking.

Day one – Marrakech to Aremd (1904m)

• Afternoon transfer (1hr 20min) to the village of Imlil (1740m) via the villages of Tahanahout and asni. From Imlil one hour’s walk to the villages of Aremd for dinner and overnight accommodation in a gite.

Day two – Aremd to Toubkal Refuge (3207m)

• On winding mule paths 5 to 6 hours of walking through breathtaking mountain scenery to the Toubkal refuge for dinner and accommodation.

Day three – Toubkal Refuge to Djebel Toubkal (4167m) to Toubkal Refuge

• Early morning start for the ascention to the summit of the Toubkal through rocky paths experiencing the incredible feeling of contemplation in the complete silence of passing through 4000m in altitude. Enjoy the endless magnificent panoramic views of the valleys and the lesser summits of the High Atlas. After 5 to 6 hours walking you return to the refuge for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day four – Return to Imlil through the valley of Ait Mizen and visit the marabout at Sidi Chamharouch

• Then continue on to Aremd for lunch after 4 to 5 hours of walking.
• After lunch return transfer to Marrakech.

(For clients who do not want to climb above 3207m we can arrange an alternative itinerary of 4 to 5 hours walking around the refuge).

In mid winter if deep snow conditions exist it may not be possible to reach the summit.

Grade Generally an easy climb although above 3207m it is more strenuous.
Acommodation In Gite and the Refuge.
Meals Picnic lunches and hot dinners.
Porterage Mules
Staff Authorised mountain guide, mule driver and cook.
