Trek B – Trekking in the Oasis, Palmgroves and Dunes from Marrakech

Highlights

• Initiation to camel driving, preparation of the Tagela( bread baked under the sand) and Berber games in the sand with unusual markers.

Day one – Marrakech to Beni Ali

• Morning departure for the Draa Valley via the High Atlas Mountainpass of Tiz n'Tichka (2000m) and the pre Sahara desert (former French Foreign Legion stronghold) town of Quarzazate. Continuation along the Draa River past the last town before the desert (Zagora) and on to Beni Ali where camp is set up and the camels are waiting. Lunch is provided en route with dinner and overnight accommodation at the camp.

Day two – Beni Ali to Bouaggane

• Progressive incursion into the Draa Valley, the mountains are left behind at the slow rhythm of the caravan. After 5 to 6 hours of walking you arrive at the camp in the palm grove of Bouaggane for dinner and overnight stay.

Day three – Bouaggane to Nesrat

• The caravan continues its way through superb adobe villages where time is standing still and wheat and corn is laboured precariously wherever there is a drop of water. The palm groves are left the heart of traditional and agricultural life of the pre-desert population. The sand dunes are now in sight and after 5 to 6 hours of walking you arrive at the camp in the village of Nesrat for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day four – Nesrat to Marrakech

• Full day return transfer to Marrakech through the Draa Valley and over High Atlas Mountains.
